Principal's message
Welcome to Tarrawanna Public School — a proud public school in the northern suburbs of Wollongong, where I'm honoured to lead a vibrant, close-knit community in which every child is known, valued and cared for.
Tarrawanna takes its name from the Dharawal word meaning "place of many trees" — a fitting welcome to a school nestled in a natural oasis between the escarpment and the sea, on Dharawal Country.
I believe every child deserves teachers who understand their strengths, nurture their wellbeing, and set high expectations for their learning. This is underpinned by explicit, evidence-based teaching that helps each child grow with confidence. Striving for excellence is more than a motto on our crest — it's a shared commitment that shapes every classroom, every interaction and every decision we make.
The strong partnerships we share with our families, carers and wider community are something I am incredibly proud of, and genuinely reflect the inclusivity and care shown for every student in our diverse learning community. I am committed to strengthening these relationships by being visible and available around our school — in the playground, at the gate, and in our classrooms — so that I know each and every student by name.
